Had Bin Laden ever stepped foot in America prior to his death?

I was just reading an article about the outcry that would have taken place if Bin Laden had been captured and tried here in America.. so just got me wondering, did he ever step foot inside our country before he declared Jihad on us? I can't find anything on google about it, so I'd presume not..
