I need help on where to put my drum set on stage near the monitor so I'll be able to hear?

Ok well I am drumming on stage to a song and they finally got a monitor so I'll be able to hear, the only problem is I could hardly hear because the monitor could only move like 8 inch and we had to place it in front of the drum set and I could hear but hardly at all. Anyways the monitor is down stage right so we have the drum set on a rug so we could slid it in and then right back out. I need help on a position I could put the drum set were I could hear the best. I was thinking about sliding the drum set to down stage right and have it to a slant and get the monitor to be on my right side of the drum set where the floor toms are but I don't know. Please help?
