Why does nobody care about aids anymore?

Back when aids came out everyone was very afraid and cared alot about the sufferers with foundations and fundraisers. Now people barely even talk about aids, and people still die of it each year. Now like a fad everyone is doing fundraisers and such for cancer. I am not discrediting cancer because it is very sad but i feel as if they care so much About cancer they forgot about aids, as if it is a trend instead of a deadly disease. Atleast with cancer people have a chance of survival, not with aids tho. I am wondering your insight and opinion on this matter and why it might be.
