Guitar Question Beginner?

When I'm playing either the D Minor Chord, C Major Chord, or A Minor Chord my index finger on the first fret never rings clearly. I've tried almost everything to fix the problem. My finger seems to be slanting and creating the bad sound. I try to fix my finger and it doesn't work. How can I make a clearer sound?
