Sorry, this is probably a stupid question "but what is a Jihad"?

Its defined as a 'holy war.' So people do things like murder, and then claim moral justification. Unfortunately, its taught to many kids in many parts of the world at a very young age. Basically, its evil of the worse kind. Someone 'smart' will say, "its taught in the US" but not really the case.
