Why do many people mock people who have respect or belief in Krishna, Christ, or Allah?

Why are people who believe in God regarded by non-believers as dunderheads and not able to think properly. Many great souls have attained great inspiration from these mystical beings. Srinivasa Ramanujan(Arguably one of the most greatest mathematician) was an intense believer in God Krishna and said that during sleep Krishna used to provide him with results of some of the most baffling problems that he used to wonder. His intuition and insight towards God had made him see some of the most interesting problems which many rational thinking mathematicians were unable to see. He even quoted saying that an equation means nothing to him unless it represents a thought of God. Gandhi, Martin Luther King, and many great souls gained inspiration from Christ's message of peace and love and became great people in bringing people from darkness to light. Although I agree religion taken or misinterpreted can become a dangerous thing like Jihad and the inquisition. Majority of the people are not in the pursuit of evil by misinterpreting religion. Why do atheists have to scorn and mock people and say offensive words to believers that they are stupids
